I just aquired a B6000. Even with the glow plugs I'm haveing a real hard time starting the engine. I've got fuel. Any ideas? Also I'm try to verify the tire size for the front and rear in an age tire.

If I'm not mistaken there is a compression release cable on the dash that you pull to release the compression to get the engine turning faster to assist in the start. Good working glow plugs are a help but you should check to see if it does have the compression release. Oh where is Willie! ....

Battery is key too. If you can't get it cranking over good you've lost half the battle right off the top.
If you have a heater in the engine, plug it in, if you don't, get one. Also, even if the battery is good, try putting it on charge for half an hour before you try to start it. Even a good battery loses a lot of it's capacity in cold weather.

Thanks for the advice. Art I do have the decompression lever and maybe not using it long enough.
Murf I think you are on the right track. My friend thinks it is not turning over fast enough. I'm going to jump it with a bigger battery to see if I still have trouble.

Bill, don't stop to soon, allow the engine to build up a good cranking speed and hold it on for a bit, you will notice it start to pick up and that's when to let it have the compression back. You might have to do it a couple of times to work but if you get it up to high enough speed it should start. ....
